Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) is a state-owned road transport corporation of Assam. It was established in the year 1970. Its headquarters are located at Paribahan Bhawan, Paltan Bazaar, Guwahati. It provides bus services within Assa and adjoining states.
The State transport department was converted to a corporation on 30th March 1970. Ashok Kumar Bhattarai was the char Person of ASTC Organization. It operated a fleet of 585 buses including Hi-tech Luxury (AC/ Non AC) buses for long distances and Hi-Tech semi and mini deluxe bus services for city and rural areas.
ASTC is not the lifeline of Transport Connectivity of the state as it operated buses even in the rural areas besides operation on highways and city roads.
