About CERC Careers

Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) is a key regulator of the power sector in India. It was formed on 24th July 1998. Its headquarters are located in New Delhi. It is a statutory body functioning with a quasi-judicial status under sec- 76 of the Electricity Act 2003. 

CERC is constituted under the Ministry of Power's Electricity Regulatory Act, 1998 for rationalization of electricity tariffs. CERC was instituted primarily to regulate the tariff of Power Generating companies owned or controlled by the government of India. Mr. P.K Pujari was the Chairperson and Dr. M.k. Iyer was the Member of the CERC Organization.

On 1st September 2009, CERC has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with world-renowned USA's Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for Development and regulatory oversight of power market, Grid Reliability, Energy Efficiency, Transmission and Distribution services in India.
