Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) is formerly known as Indraprastha University. It was a public state university located in Delhi. It was established on 28th March 1988. Anil Baijal was the Chancellor and Mahesh Verma was the Vice-Chancellor of GGSIPU. GGSIPU is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities, Association of Indian Universities, Medical Council of India and Distance Education Council.

The university was named after the ancient mythological city of Indraprastha which features prominently in the epic Mahabharata.
