GMCH was started in the year, 1973 with the moto to provide quality education and deliver the health care service to the people of the region. GMC institution was started with the goal to train 50 medical students for MBBS per years and to server as referral hospital. It has established a coronary care unit with echocardiography, Holter, TMT, Image, Intensifier and facilities for regular implantation of temporary and permanent pace makers.
