The first post office in India was opened in India in the year 1727 and since India Post has grown to a network as big as 1,54,965 offices till March 2017. Presently, every post office is on an average serving 7753 persons on an average area of 21.6 sq.km. Few days back, Post Offices were considered to be obsolete as they had become the most neglected area due to new private companies emerging to make communication and logistics faster and simpler. However, with the idea of digitization advocated by the Indian Government, the Postal Department of India is also going through progressive changes implementing different projects which has opened new scope of recruitment and is rolling out new job opportunities for new aspirants in India.

Regarding employment, The Postal Department of Indian Government has not shown remarkable achievement till few years back. The growth and salary hike scope was low as compared to any other Central Government division. However, what employees really enjoyed working in this sector was the privilege and benefits of being under the Central Government job, with a decent compensative, wonderful leave policies. DARPAN or the Digital Advancement of Rural Post Office for a New India - This is an information technology based project to offer financial support to the unbanked rural sector in India, targeting 1.29 lakh rural branch post offices equipped with hand-held devices and micro-ATM facilities to boost Rural Postal Life Insurance, savings accounts(POSA), financial transactions and cash certificates. For the same, the Union Ministry of Communication has also launched in the DARPAN PLI (Postal Life Insurance) and RPLI (Rural Postal Life Insurance) apps.
  2. CORE BANKING SYSTEM (CBS) – Project DARPAN has been initialized through the CBS which has aided banking through National Electronic Fund Transfer (NEFT) and Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS)
  3. INDIA POST PAYMENTS BANK (IPPB) – IPPB was launched in Ranchi, and Raipur under the Ministry of Communication as a public limited company with 100% stakes of the Government, now expanded to 650 branches/controlling offices across India, and includes services like deposits, money transfers, MGNREGA, Scholarships, Savings Schemes, Government Subsidies, Loans, Insurance, Investments, Bills & Utility Payments, Merchant Payments etc. Government has also launched IBBP mobile app for easy access to all facilities at doorstep.

The Post Office network currently functions in different clusters like Urban Post Offices, Rural Post Offices, Departmental Post, GraminDakSewak, Departmental Employees, GraminDak. The Government releases job vacancies from time to time that may differ in session and no. of positions from state to state basis.

GRAMIN DAK SEVAK RECRUITMENT (GDS) 2019

India Post has already released 10,066 positions under the GRAMIN DAK SEVAK RECRUITMENT in August 2019 for the circles like Assam, Gujarat, Bihar, Punjab, Kerala and Karnataka and one can apply up to 4th Sep for the same.

Eligibility of the position is 10th grade qualification. However, the percentage considered is to the accuracy of 4 decimals. The age limit is 18 to 40 years

The questions comprise 4 sections of GK and Analytical Reasoning, Mathematics and English and Regional Language with Objective-type questions of 100 marks.

General Candidates applying for the post need to furnish a Security Amount of Rs.25000 and while reserved category candidates need to provide an amount of Rs. 10000 as security.

POSTMAN & MAILGUARD Jobs

To apply for these posts, candidates must possess 12th standard pass certificate from recognized boards of education. The age criteria is between 18 and 27 years , an application fee of Rs 100 is required. The salary of these Grade I posts generally ranges between Rs. 18,000 and 29.700

MMGS II – III The Senior posts like Branch Manager, Senior Branch Manager, Product Manager, Internal Audit Manager, HR & Admin Manager, Sales Manager, Operations, Central Processing Centre, Technology, Risk & Compliance, Finance & Taxation Manager n& Senior Manager all come under the MMGS II and III categories.

For Senior Manager position candidate need to be a successful graduate from recognized University with a minimum experience of 6 years and also have experience of working in Scale II or in the managing role. The age limit varies between different positions from 23 to 36 years with certain relaxation for reserved categories.

For Manager position, candidates need to be a graduate with minimum 3 years experience in the same field.

The payscale for these positions range between Rs. 42000 with a monthly CTC of Rs 1,06,000 for MMGS III levels and Rs. 31000 with a monthly CTC of Rs. 83,000 for MMGS II levels.

Selection is on basis of an online test and then a personal interview. The application fees for all general category candidates is Rs 700 while other reserved categories in Rs 150.
